Mayor learns some moves from Centro student!

A Centro student showed the Mayor some moves at yesterday's PhillyRising Service Summit at Cramp Elementary School! The Service Summit brought together a mix of City and external partners in a technology-enabled setting to provide services to community members on the spot. Cramp also unveiled their brand new playground with a ribbon cutting celebration!

Planting Hope: Beginning a Community Garden

Centro Nueva Creación and the Nueva Creación Lutheran Church are excited to be partnering together to create a gardenon a parcel of land located at the intersection of Hancock St. and Ontario St.

The Garden will serve as both an outdoor classroom and an environmental resource for Centro's students, parents, and staff all year long. As a classroom, the garden will be a lovely natural setting in which Centro can continue its mission to provide hands-on learning. As a natural resource, thegarden will be a tiny representation of farm-to-table where staple vegetables of the Latino diet can be grown organically. It will be a place where new flowers and their wonderful scents can be discovered, a bee can be heard buzzing busily, and the sun can be the light by which a child reads a book.

With the help of Centro’s youth, parents, staff, volunteers, and community members this garden can and will become a reality.
